Columbus Junction and the surrounding communities correspond to the Columbus Community School District. The school district’s facilities are located in Columbus Junction on one campus located at Colton and Springer Streets. Enrollment is nearly 800 students and includes grades Pre-K through 12.
Muscatine Community College (MCC) offers credit and non-credit courses at a facility shared with school district administrative offices on Colton Street. MCC is part of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.
The University of Iowa is located 45 minutes north of Columbus Junction in Iowa City. The proximity allows for commuter students as well as collaborations with university classes, researchers, and clinics.
The Louisa County Extension office is located in Wapello. The extension staff is very active in the county offering a wide variety of educational opportunities as well as serving as a conduit to extension services in Ames.
Preschool classes are offered by Columbus Community School District, Great Beginnings Preschool (United Methodist Church) and Colonel’s Kids Daycare.
